Designer's Notes +

This gorgeous, mahogany toned ring is made using vintage lucite. Like many pieces from our Plastic Fantastic collection, the Country Club Ring aims to breathe new life into vintage, plastic mounts by pairing them with exquisite gemstones, such as a gorgeous, sunshine citrine as seen in this example. Plastic may not be a traditional material to use in fine jewellery, but by recycling it, it can be a sustainable one.

Hand-crafted in 18ct yellow gold, the Country Club Ring is the perfect everyday cocktail ring. Its warm and neutral colour palette makes it easy to wear and adaptable to all skin tones. It also goes just as well with jeans and a white t-shirt as it does with a little black dress, making it a very versatile addition to any jewellery box.

Cocktail rings first emerged in the jazz-age of the 1920s as a symbol of opposition to Prohibition. During that time, an alcoholic cocktail was about as rebellious a status symbol as you could get. Making sure that everyone noticed your illicit drink was equally important – particularly for women – who were beginning to challenge their proscribed role in the home and society. The cocktail ring – in all its colourful, blinging glory – was thus invented as an emblem of female independence and became the perfect accessory at secret parties in towns and cities across America.

This ring has been showcased by such editors as Kate Baxter of @thecutlondon, Shohista Turan of @jewellery_pursuer, @velvet_castle and @melaniegrant of The Economist 1843; and featured in such publications as JCK Magazine.
