All about Maggie
Little encouragement was needed to persuade two hundred women to descend on the Bluebird in Chelsea for the annual Maggie’s Ladies Lunch. Aside from the variety of raffle prizes and unique auction lots on offer, as well as a three-course meal and discounted shopping at the Shop at Bluebird, a much worthier cause was at play.
Founded in memory of Maggie Keswick Jenks – who died of breast cancer in 1995 – the Maggie’s Ladies Lunch aims to raise funds to support Maggie’s Centres – places of serene calm, contemplation, support, advice and care for all cancer patients and their families throughout the UK and abroad. When asked to join the committee and help organise this year’s fundraiser, we didn’t think twice.
Thanks to all the kind generosity of the guests, donors, sponsors and bidders, the Maggie’s team managed to raise a staggering £49,000 over the course of three hours. Not bad for a day’s work.
