Baby Boar Earrings
9ct gold, silver, rhodium, smoky quartz, garnet and porcelain wild boar earrings
Our series of animal earrings belong to our Lost & Found collection, inspired by the Victorian curiosity cabinet and the work of Joseph Cornell, who transformed found objects (like these porcelain animal figurines) into mini masterpieces.
These one-of-a-kind animal earrings also draw a lot of creativity from Philip Pullman’s Dark Materials trilogy, where every human has an inseparable animal daemon with them at all times (the daemon being the external physical manifestation of a person’s self or soul).
Having been obsessed with that book her entire adult life, Tessa wanted to use jewellery to recreate this unique daemon-human relationship, and making mismatching animal earrings seemed like the perfect way of doing it. Whether it is a hedgehog, pig, dog, unicorn or butterfly, each unique animal character sits on your shoulder, accompanying you wherever you go, like an inseparable best friend.
Much thought is also given to which gemstones to pair with each the little porcelain creature. As Tessa notes, “I try to marry stones that evoke the spirit, colour or habitat of the animal, such as ethereal pearl for our Magic Unicorn Earrings to symbolise its mysticism and femininity; or smokey quartz and autumnal garnet to draw out the russet and woodland tones of the baby boar”.
We are also happy to offer our clients a completely bespoke animal earring service, creating one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by their chosen creature. To find out more about this option please email [email protected].
